California Farmers Market is Open! Saturday, 9 AM - 1 PM (Apr - Nov)

Hello Farm Friends,

We'll have watermelon, arugula, lots of sweet peppers, potatoes and much more grown organically just for you! Pick up your fresh veggies for the weekend and the week ahead. Fresh is best for flavor and nutrition!

What we'll have at market tomorrow:

- Canning Tomatoes:  Reserve your 20-lb box of canning tomatoes today and pick up at market!  $20/box. We have 7 boxes of Roma tomatoes and 1 box mix of romas/red slicers. Freeze, can or make sauce this weekend! Super easy tomato sauce recipes on our website (www.sassafrascreekfarm.com). Just reply to this email with the number of boxes you want and contact information. First come, first served. Pick up at market by noon or it goes to the next customer. See photo below.

- Arugula: Your favorite spicy green is back!  Of course you can eat as a salad with grated Parmesan, but try as the base for grilled salmon with a sesame-ginger dressing, or sprinkle on pizza as it comes hot out of the oven. See photo below.

- Beets: Two varieties to try, Red and Chioggia (Italian variety with pink and white bulls eye pattern).

- Lorz Italian Garlic:  Heirloom variety brought to WA state from Italy. Particularly good softneck garlic flavor.  

- Romanian Red Garlic:  Hardneck garlic brought to British Columbia from Romania. Cloves streaked and lined on buff brown background. Excellent garlic flavor.  Especially high in garlic health characteristics.

- Onions, Red:  Freshly-harvested, sweet red onions! Great raw on burgers, grilled or saute with vegetables.

 - Superstar Onions:  Your favorite, fresh white sweet onions are here!  Excellent raw on hamburgers or in salads; equally delicious carmelized over medium heat.

- Sweet Bell Peppers, Red, Yellow and Orange

- Sweet Oranos Peppers: We have lots more this week of your favorite orange sweet peppers! Remember, they freeze really well and are wonderful to add to dishes in the winter!

- Shishito Peppers:  Tasty, easy appetizer peppers. Simply saute until blistered, sprinkle with sea salt and serve with an ice cold beer or dry white wine.  

- New Red, White and Blue Potatoes:  We have plenty of tasty versatile Mountain Rose, creamy white Carola and All Blue potatoes for your patriotic potato salads! If you've never eaten potatoes fresh out of the ground, well you are in for a treat. So delicious simply boiled until fork tender and served with a little butter or cut up and roasted in the oven until crisp with sea salt sprinkled on top.  See our Web site for recipes.

- Fingerling Potatoes: We have Austrian Crescent fingerling potatoes that are great for roasting whole and serve tossed hot with a little olive oil, vinegar and fresh garlic!  Instant simple potato salad.

- Cherry Tomatoes, Sungold, Sweet Treat & Cherry Bomb (new!): We have a lot of both types of cherry tomatoes to satisfy your tastes.  One very sweet and tangy, like an orange, another that is red and sweet with lower acid and a third that has a tasty traditional tomato flavor.  All delicious!

- Heritage Tomatoes:  We have a variety of tomatoes with wonderful heirloom flavor.

- Red Tomatoes:  red slicer tomatoes, perfect for salsas, burgers and just plain eating with a little salt.

- Extazy Watermelons:  Seedless, sweet, medium size. A delicious way to keep cool in this heat! See photo below.

We take cash, debit and credit cards.

The market has additional vegetable vendors, as well as beef, pork, chicken, eggs, local hard cider, local beer and baked goods. 

So, we hope to see you, your friends and family members on Saturday (BAE parking lot, 9am - 1pm).
